An unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base between 11:01 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, and 5:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
According to Air Force Global Strike Command, the purpose of the ICBM test launch is to validate and verify the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon system.
Base officials say this is a routine test and was scheduled years in advance.
