1 killed in crash on Harris Grade outside Lompoc

UPDATE: CHP says the 33-year-old driver from Lompoc was the only one inside the pickup truck. The driver was heading northbound, north of Rucker Road, when he "made an unsafe turning movement," causing the vehicle to go off the road and into an embankment before overturning, CHP said.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP says he was not wearing a seatbelt.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person was killed in a crash on Harris Grade Road outside Lompoc Thursday, according to CHP.

It was reported at around 12:43 p.m. as a vehicle that had crashed into an embankment north of the summit and landed on its roof.

CHP says officers are still on scene and few details were immediately available.
