12 more COVID-19 related deaths reported in Santa Barbara County

12 more Santa Barbara County residents have died due to COVID-19, public health officials report.

According to the Santa Barbara County Public Health, six deaths were reported on January 8th, and six more on January 9th.

Nine individuals were over the age of 70 and three others were between 50-69 years of age.

10 had underlying medical conditions.

Four of deaths were associated with outbreaks at congregate facilities, according to public health officials.

As of Saturday, a total of 197 people have died from COVID-19 in the county, 20,550 people have tested positive for the virus. Of that number, 2,176 people are still currently infected, according to the Santa Barbara County Public Health Portal.
