20-year-old facing DUI charges following fatal crash near Lompoc

A 20-year-old is facing DUI charges following a deadly crash near Lompoc earlier this month.

The crash happened Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Harris Grade Road south of Burton Mesa Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Isaac DeLuna of Lompoc was heading southbound on Harris Grade Road when he lost cotrol of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic.

DeLuna collided with an oncoming vehicle, driven by Benjamin Romayor, 68, of Lompoc, according to CHP.

Romayor died from his injuries.

CHP officers say DeLuna was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influce of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

As of Monday morning, jail logs did not show him in custody and it was unclear whether any official charges have been filed.
