Work is getting underway on a project to resurface 24 miles of Highway 58 east of Santa Margarita.

The project begins six miles east of Santa Margarita near Highway 229 and extends to the Navajo Creek Bridge.

Caltrans says drivers will encounter lane closures and one-way reversing traffic control Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Overnight traffic control is also expected Monday nights through Friday mornings from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. and starting at 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Caltrans says delays should be no longer than 15 minutes.

The $7 million project is expected to be complete by January.
