Testimony is underway in the preliminary hearing for the man charged with murdering San Luis Obispo woman Kristen Marti.

The preliminary hearing, where the judge looks at evidence and hears testimony to decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to move forward to trial, for Robert Koehler began Wednesday morning in a San Luis Obispo courtroom. It’s expected to last into Thursday.

Along with murder, Koehler, 36, has been charged with other special allegations in connection with 26-year-old Marti’s death.

She was reported missing on January 18 and was last seen alive in Prefumo Canyon on January 9. Her body was found March 25.

Shortly after, Koehler was identified as a person of interest in the case and later arrested in Minnesota and extradited back to San Luis Obispo where he is being held in county jail without bail.
