Kids, parents reunite with nurses at Marian Regional Medical Center’s NICU reunion

For years, Marian Regional Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has helped newborns stay alive at their most fragile moments in their early life.

Kids and parents who have to spend time in the NICU build a relationship with the nurses helping them go through the experience.

The reunion, which is now in its fifth year, helps the tiny graduates reconnect with those physicians again and see the growth of the children.

Seeing those kids healthy is a very proud feeling, staff says.

“I think that for the staff and the physicians they’ve created those bonds and having this event every year allows them to reconnect and see how the children are doing, and how their work really is helping them set them up for success today, tomorrow and in the future,” said Candice Monge, Marian Regional Medical Center Chief Nurse Executive Officer.

More than 200 attended Saturday’s event. Attendees experienced food, games, family portraits, face painting, fingerprinting, and many more activities for the families to enjoy.
