Atascadero Fine Arts Academy students took a break from their normal art studies to participate in the schools “Art-a-thon.”

The fine arts academy collected donations from family and friends to get support for their school.

Volunteers joined more than 17 different kinds of activities ranging from dance, hair coloring, painting and printmaking.

“One of the big things at our school, just to sort of understand, our academics are all in the morning. the afternoons are always for the fine arts. So the students are normally involved in four electives a week that they have all year,” said Susan Sparling, PTSA vice president. “So to do something different from their normal electives is exciting.”

The school said this was the first year they exceeded the $15,000 fundraising goal.
