The nation’s largest day of community service is Saturday and the City of Lompoc is looking for volunteers to help make a difference.

The city will have five different projects going on throughout the city on Oct. 27.

Anyone who wants to help can expect to spend three hours volunteering.

Lompoc has participated in this event for six years.

Fleet Facilities Park Communications Manager Dirk Ishiwata said something that makes the city so great is how they come together to volunteer.

“The one thing that Lompoc has a great history and pride in is the volunteerism that the community has when there is something that needs to be taken of we can always count on the citizens to rally together and come and make a difference,” Ishiwata.

Anyone interested in volunteering can go to 1300 West Laurel, Lompoc to meet with everyone involved then head out to the project of their choice.
