Authorities have identified the woman hit and killed by a train Friday morning in Montecito as Casilina Gallagher, 33.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says Gallagher was a transient and was hit while walking on the tracks at about 7:10 a.m. near the southbound Olive Mill Road off-ramp.

Officials say the engineer saw her and sounded the horn while trying to brake, but was unable to stop in time.

Gallagher’s next-of-kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing. Toxicology and lab results are pending to determine a final cause and manner of death.
