The California Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a crash in Atascadero over the weekend.

Officers say Eric J. Polmanteer, 50, of Atascadero was heading north on El Camino Real south of Asuncion Road at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle causing it to go off the shoulder of the road and crash into a fence.

Polmanteer was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but CHP says drugs or alcohol are not suspected.
