UPDATE: A 45-year-old Santa Maria man was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday morning near Guadalupe.
The California Highway Patrol says Francisco Mejia was heading west on Betteravia Road near the intersection of Brown Road at about 6:15 a.m.
Officers say he started to make a lefthand turn directly in the path of an oncoming truck.
The truck was unable to stop and the two vehicles collided head-on.
Mejia was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 62-year-old from Guadalupe, was not injured.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead and another injured after a head-on crash south of Guadalupe.
The crash happened on West Betteravia Road near Brown road at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
Santa Barbara County Fire officials say it was a head-on collision between a truck and a sedan.
The male driver in the sedan was killed on impact, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.
The male driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
As of 7:30 a.m. crews remain on scene clearing the area.
