Two Central Coast cities will play host during the Amgen Tour of California in 2019.

The cities of Morro Bay and Pismo Beach will welcome competitive riders along their statewide route during Stages Four and Five on May 15 and 16, respectively.

“Millions of people watch this race every year, and they’re going to see our beautiful rock, our beautiful bay, and they’re all going to want to come here,” said Morro Bay City Councilmember Rob Davis.

Last year’s events passed over the Central Coast, with the closest host city set in Ventura.

The Amgen Tour of California in 2019 will stop along a total of 13 cities, including Sacramento, South Lake Tahoe, Ventura, Ontario and Pasadena to name a few.

The 2019 men’s race schedule will begin in Sacramento on Sunday, May 12 and run for almost a week until Saturday, May 18. The women’s race schedule is projected to begin in Ventura on Thursday, May 16, and run until Saturday, May 18.
