The California Highway Patrol has identified the pedestrian who died after being hit along Highway 101 in Goleta Friday night as F. Garlejocasaclang.
Officers say the 78-year-old man from Santa Maria was walking in the slow lane of southbound Highway 101 north of Calle Real just after 11 p.m. when the driver of a Ford E-250 in the same lane came upon Garlejocasaclang and was unable to avoid him.
Garlejocasaclang was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, a 51-year-old man from Granada Hills, was not injured and was not arrested.
The collision remains under investigation.
