Santa Maria man identified as pedestrian hit, killed on Hwy 101 in Goleta

The California Highway Patrol has identified the pedestrian who died after being hit along Highway 101 in Goleta Friday night as F. Garlejocasaclang.

Officers say the 78-year-old man from Santa Maria was walking in the slow lane of southbound Highway 101 north of Calle Real just after 11 p.m. when the driver of a Ford E-250 in the same lane came upon Garlejocasaclang and was unable to avoid him.

Garlejocasaclang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 51-year-old man from Granada Hills, was not injured and was not arrested.

The collision remains under investigation.
