Second-grade students at Mary Buren Elementary School are donating canned goods to those in need this holiday season through the help of the Good Samaritan Homeless Shelter located in Santa Maria.
The children at the Guadalupe school are collecting cans in order to help feed the less fortunate in the community during the giving time of year.
“It’s important to teach our students how powerful they are to make an impact in their community,’’ said Teacher Nora Miller.
The project started on December 3, and will end on Friday, December 14.
