The Gift of Life blood drive allows the central coast community to come together to help transform lives during the holiday season.

Blood donations begin Dec. 17 and last through Dec. 31. Participants can donate at locations in Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.

Organizes with Vitalant say the holiday season is a challenging time to collect blood because regular donors become unavailable due to holiday travels. Organizers also add that the flu season prevents many donors from being healthy enough to donate.

Blood donors must be 16-years-old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good health, and bring a photo I.D.

Donors can go to the Santa Maria Donation Center on 1770 S. Broadway St. and the San Luis Obispo Donation Center at 4119 Broad St., #100.

Bloodmobiles will be located at the Paso Robles Walmart on 180 Niblick Rd. from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Dec. 18, 20, 21, 26, and 27.

All participants will receive a $10 certificate towards lunch at F. Mclintocks Saloon and a $20 movie certificate through Vitalant’s Donar Rewards Store.
