The California Highway Patrol has released the identity of the man who was hit and killed while lying in the road near Santa Margarita over the weekend.
Officers say Matthew Eugene Gunn, 47, of Atascadero was hit by two drivers at about 6 a.m. Saturday on West Pozo Road near Las Pilitas Road.
CHP reported heavy fog in the area at the time.
Officers have not said if they know why Gunn was lying in the road at the time.
