Crews will burn about 25 brush piles in Hearst San Simeon and Morro Bay State Parks starting Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Burn operations will be active between 9 a.m and 4 p.m. and are expected to continue through Friday, Dec. 21.

At Hearst San Simeon State Park, burning will occur in the Monterey pine forest east of Highway 1 near the intersection with Exotic Garden Dr.

At Morro Bay State Park, burning will occur near the intersections of Quintana Rd. and La Loma St. and Lower and Upper State Park Roads.

Parks officials say the goal of the burns is to eliminate dead tree debris and manage vegetation to reduce the risk of wildfire danger.

Some piles were burned last week.
