UPDATE (4:18 p.m.) – Santa Maria police have identified the pedestrian who died following a traffic collision Wednesday evening as Rodolfo Tovar Rodriguez, 84.
(10:19 a.m.) – Santa Maria police say a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening has died.
It happened just before 6 p.m. in the 1400 block of S. Broadway near the Foods Co. shopping center.
Police say the man was found down in the southbound lanes. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The man’s name has not yet been released.
Police say they’ve already spoken with several witnesses and other people involved but are asking anyone else who may have seen the collision to contact Officer Javier Velazquez at (805) 928-3781, ext. 1338.
