January is Fine Amnesty month for County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries.
All County Library branches will waive all overdue fees, regardless of how overdue the item is. Customer accounts will be cleared so they can check out new material.
Keep in mind, fine forgiveness does not apply to fees charged for lost materials.
According to Assistant Library Director, Chase McMunn, “The goal of this amnesty program is to get patrons back into the library and reading again. We first and foremost want library materials back and want patrons to be able to use the library. This fine amnesty allows us to further our mission of connecting the community to knowledge, culture, and creativity. We really hope this is an opportunity for families that can’t afford to pay old overdue fines to return to the library.”
This program kicks off a year of celebration in honor of the Centennial anniversary of County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries.
