A lawsuit filed in 2017 against the owners of The SLO student apartments in San Luis Obispo has been settled, according to attorneys Newmeyer & Dillion LLP.
The suit, filed on behalf of a Cal Poly student and more than 100 other student residents, claimed owner Home Sweet Home, Inc. made changes to the apartments without proper building permits and that the residents suffered damages as a result.
The owners and managers disputed those claims.
However, according to Newmeyer & Dillion, the owners have since worked with the City of San Luis Obispo to bring the apartments up to code.
The settlement, which is pending final approval from the court, reportedly includes $700,000 to reimburse the 2017-19 tenants for a portion of their rent.
