Caltrans announced Saturday morning that it is prepared to tentatively close Highway 1 in the Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide areas of Big Sur on Monday because of a significant storm.
The advisory said Highway 1 is tentatively scheduled to close at mid-day Monday.
Gates on both sides of Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide have been installed and when a significant storm is expected, Caltrans closes the gates as a safety precaution.
The highway would reopen after the storm when it is safe.
Caltrans said additional information will be available within the next 24 hours and a final notice will be sent out before the roads close.
