Five Cities warming center to open Sunday

The 5Cities Homeless Coalition is opening its warming center Sunday Jan.13 at 5 p.m.

Anyone who wants to take advantage of the service can stop by at Hillside Church at 1935 Newport Ave. and go to the back parking lot.

At the shelter, guests will have a warm, safe place to sleep and they will get a hot meal.

The facility does not accept pets.

The 5Cities Homeless Coalition said guest cannot arrive before 5 p.m. and doors close at 8 p.m.

Rides are available through Ride On and people can pick up a ride at:

  • 5:05 p.m. Ramona Park (on 9th St. & Ramona)
  • 5:15 p.m. Oceano Duck Pond (corner of Mendel & Norswing (pond side)
  • 5:25 p.m. Finn’s Restaurant (parking lot between Finn’s and bathrooms)
  • 5:35 p.m. Pismo Outlets (in the parking lot between Ralph Lauren store & Five Cities Dr.)
  • 5:50 p.m. Walmart (North side of Parking lot, the side towards the old Kmart side)
  • 6 p.m. drop off to Hillside Church.

The center will close by 7 a.m.

The 5Cities Homeless Coalition is also accepting donations.

They are accepting:
Sweatshirts. sweatpants, socks, and underwear.
Food Items: Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cereal, granola bars, peanut butter & jelly,
Individually packaged juice, crackers, cookies, and chips.
