Morro Bay police arrested a man they say abused his wife and took off with his 1-year-old son Tuesday.

Caleb Poe Lebbad, 42, of Morro Bay is accused of domestic violence, false imprisonment, withholding communication devices and child endangerment.

Police said he began an altercation with the mother of his child Saturday. He reportedly held her against her will and refused to let her have her telephone to call for help.

The woman was able to call for help Tuesday. Police said when they arrived on scene, they found her with injuries caused by Lebbad.

She told them he ran from their home and took their 1-year-old son with him.

With her help, police found Lebbad in the 2600 block of Main Street at approximately 2:20 p.m. When he saw police, he reportedly took off but was found hiding in a neighborhood nearby with his son.

He was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

The child was uninjured and released to Child Welfare Services.

Police are asking any witnesses to call them at (805) 772-6225.
