The City of San Luis Obispo discussed their 2019-21 financial plan at Wednesdays City Council meeting.

During the ‘hands-on workshop,’ the city had an overview of their goals, the budget process, a fiscal outlook and the local revenue measure, also known as Measure G. The measure protects and maintains essential services and facilities in the city.

During the hand-on meeting, people were able to weigh in on their priorities for the next two years.

“What we did tonight was invite people to understand the process but then immediately get people up and out of their seats and invite them to be engaged and share their voice and their views in a way that I think was really interactive,” San Luis Obispo Mayor Heidi Harmon said.

Aside from the workshop, the city surveyed more than 1,500 people in order to get a general idea the top priorities that people who live in San Luis Obispo have.

Based on the results, people prioritize sustainability, open space preservation and addressing homelessness.
