Emergency repair work overnight on a broken natural gas line has closed part of a Santa Maria street.
Thornburg Street between Betteravia Road and Dal Porto Lane will remain closed until road repairs are finished.
Crews say they had to excavate to reach the buried distribution line. Betteravia Road between Broadway and Depot Street, as well as Thornburg Street between Cooley Lane and Dal Porto Road, were closed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
While the gas line was repaired and Betteravia Road reopened around 4:30 a.m., rain and runoff has reportedly delayed the backfill and repair.
All roads are expected to re-open sometime Thursday afternoon.
City staff reminds drivers to slow down in the construction area.
