The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two people killed Thursday in a crash on Highway 101 at the Nojoqui Grade.

Aura Orfelinda Guerrero, 48, of Porterville was killed when the California Highway Patrol says she apparently lost control of her vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by another vehicle.

Richard Jon Larson, 74, of Buellton was a passenger in that other vehicle. He also died at the scene.

The 65-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle in which Larson was riding reportedly suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital by helicopter. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The crash happened shortly before 12:30 p.m., causing two lanes of the highway to be closed for hours.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
