Super Bowl 53 is on Sunday and stores across the Central Coast are getting lots of customers buying new merchandise to support their team.
The Sports Forum in downtown San Luis Obispo is one of the several stores selling Super Bowl merchandise.
This year, a California team the Los Angeles Rams are facing off against the New England Patriots for the title.
The Sports Forum sales associate Cooper Prentis said having a California team in a championship is good for business.
“You get fans that, it’s a home town team or it’s close to where they grew up so they ended up watching,” Prentis said. “It’s the same thing for the Dodgers, we had a lot of people rooting for the Dodgers, the Rams are no different.”
Prentis said the store is typically busy the Saturday before the Super Bowl and Super Bowl Sunday.
“People who aren’t even fans they’ll just come in and buy a hat just because of whatever team is playing,” Prentis said. “It happens all the time, they have to go to a party so they have to wear the hat.”
Sports Forum is opened until 5 p.m. Saturday and until 3 p.m. Sunday.
