UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) – The Conserv Fuel gas station on E. Ocean Ave. shared surveillance video of the early morning shooting in Lompoc on Thursday.
It happened at about 4:15 a.m.
The video shows a man getting out of a car with a bat as a white van pulls up. He then falls to the ground as shots are fired.
What appears to be the same white van was spotted outside a home about a block away on E. Cypress Ave., where police served a search warrant Thursday afternoon.
Hapgood Elementary School was locked down while police conducted their investigation.
Police say the victim was treated at a local hospital.
UPDATE (2:30 p.m.) – Lompoc police were on scene along the 800 block of E. Cypress Thursday afternoon investigating an early-morning shooting.
Police could be seen outside an apartment complex where a white van matching the description of the one reportedly used in the shooting was parked.
Police said one person not believed to be connected to the shooting was in custody for a parole violation. There were reportedly weapons in the house police were searching.
The shooter was still outstanding.
The lockdown at nearby Hapgood Elementary has since been lifted.
Police are expected to release more information soon about the shooting.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police activity prompted a lockdown at Hapgood Elementary School in Lompoc Thursday afternoon, district officials confirmed.
The lockdown began sometime at or around 1:00 p.m. as a precautionary measure after police requested the school do so, officials said.
The school plans to lift the lockdown once given the OK to do so by authorities.
It is not known if the police activity is related to a shooting that occurred early Thursday morning in the area of Ocean and A streets.
The school is located on the 300 block of S. A Street.
