Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials say a traffic stop Sunday in Santa Maria resulted in two arrests and the discovery of drugs and a loaded pistol.
A deputy reportedly tried to stop the vehicle in the area of S. Bradley Rd. and Larch Ave. but the driver did not yield until reaching Shady Glen Dr.
Sheriff’s officials say deputies searched the vehicle and found a loaded pistol with its serial number removed, approximately 1/2 an ounce of methamphetamine, and other drug and drug sales paraphernalia.
The driver was identified as Kevin Scott Ussery, 29, of Santa Maria. He was arrested on suspicion of evading a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also reportedly had warrants for identity theft and grand theft. He’s being held on $70,000 bail.
Sheriff’s officials have identified the passenger as Samuel James Albrecht, 25. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, transportation of methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance. Officials say additional drug paraphernalia was found during a body cavity search at the jail. Albrecht reportedly posted $50,000 bail and was released from custody Tuesday.
