Students at El Camino Junior High School in Santa Maria made sure no one ate alone at lunch on Friday.

This is the third year the school has participated in the national “No One Eats Alone Day” event. It’s designed to help students meet new friends and classmates and curb social isolation.

“It helps with like people not to feel that alone and it opens people up to meet other people, have new friends,” said Kimberly Guerrero, 8th grader.

At El Camino, students in each homeroom hosted their own tables in the cafeteria with decorations, games, ice breakers, and conversation starters to help other students meet new people they might not normally hang out with.

El Camino Junior High has more than 800 students.
