Arroyo Grande police say a felon out on bail is believed responsible for at least four vehicle break-ins over the weekend.
Police say officers responded shortly after 1:45 a.m. Saturday to the 1100 block of Fair Oaks Avenue to reports of a vehicle burglary in progress.
When they arrived at the parking lot of an apartment complex there, police say they found a man getting out of a pickup truck that had a smashed passenger window.
Police say they detained Darren Cody Edmunson, 25, of Grover Beach and found him with property from the pickup and other items believed to be stolen.
They say he also had ammunition and pepper spray and believe he is also responsible for at least three other thefts from vehicles the same night. It was not immediately clear if all the thefts occurred in the Arroyo Grande area.
Edmunson was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. He faces charges of vehicle burglary, prowling, being a felon in possession of ammunition and tear gas and committing a felony while out on bail.
