UPDATE (3/5/19) – Caltrans says the closure of the Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide areas of Highway 1 in Big Sur is expected to last through Thursday, March 7.
The closures go into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Caltrans has announced it will close Highway 1 at Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide in the Big Sur area at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.
The closure is due to a significant storm expected to arrive Tuesday.
The gates on each side of Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide will be closed and locked so no car has access to the area.
Caltrans said units will be on call, prepared to inspect and clean up during the day when the storm ends and when it is safe to be in the area.
A final notice will be sent out just before the road closes.
The closure will be lifted once the road is expected and determined safe for drivers.
