Authorities are expected to release more information about a suspicious death investigation in northern San Luis Obispo County during a press conference Monday afternoon.

Daniel Raul Rodriguez Johnson, 31, was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail Sunday evening on eight charges, including driving a vehicle without owners consent, DUI, child endangerment, resisting arrest and evading law enforcement.

His arrest came after authorities said the California Highway Patrol responded to a disabled vehicle Sunday morning in the Paso Robles area and as an officer was out of his car helping Johnson, Johnson reportedly took off in the CHP unit.

A pursuit ensued and eventually ended in the San Simeon area.

When Johnson reportedly fled in the CHP unit, he left two young girls behind in the vehicle he had been driving, sheriff’s officials said.

That prompted authorities to respond to his home in the Heritage Ranch area where sheriff’s officials say they found a woman dead inside.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled a press conference for 3 p.m. It will be streamed live here.

Johnson remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bond.
