Lompoc Police say $10,000 in stolen equipment has made its way back to its rightful owner.
The equipment was discovered as part of an investigation into a suspect who allegedly was involved in a shooting at a Lompoc gas station in February.
During a search, investigators seized multiple tools worth thousands of dollars belonging to contractors doing work in the area.
As many as five victims of the thefts have been able to claim their property, adding up to about $10,000.
“Anytime the police department can return property, that’s a job well done,” said Sgt. Kevin Martin. “This is a minority of situations in regards to being able to return property. It doesn’t happen all that often, so we’re really happy to do it when we can.”
Police still have a number of items that have yet to be returned. Anyone who thinks their equipment may have been stolen should contact Lompoc PD, set up an appointment to view the items and bring proof of ownership to help get that equipment back.
