A search was underway Friday night in Oceano for a man who was reportedly looking into car windows with a flashlight before fleeing from an off-duty officer.
Dispatch recieved a report of a suspicious man in the area of 24th Street and Wilmar Avenue, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
The man encountered an off-duty officer, according to the sheriff’s office, and the suspect gave chase.
The off-duty officer believes the man is someone with active arrest warrants, the watch commander said, but the suspect’s name was not released.
A team of deputies and a canine unit were searching the area around 10:15 p.m. and had not yet located the suspect.
