A Grover Beach man is facing drug-related charges after police say he ran from officers in Arroyo Grande Monday night.

Arroyo Grande police say an officer on patrol tried to stop a bicyclist at about 11:35 p.m. for a traffic violation in the area of Poplar and Juniper streets.

Police say the man ran away but left behind “a small amount of suspected narcotics.”

Officers from AGPD and the Grover Beach Police Department responded and located Manuel Pineda Javier III, 50, climbing over a fence near a home on the 1400 block of Strawberry Avenue, according to police.

Javier was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, vandalism and possession of a controlled substance.

He remained in custody Tuesday morning in lieu of $5,000, jail logs showed.
