People in San Luis Obispo are coming together Friday to “stand together with love” and join with the Muslim community after shootings at a New Zealand mosque killed at least 49 people.

The Social Justice Committee is inviting people to gather at 1 p.m. at Mosque of Nasreen located at 1136 Walnut St. in San Luis Obispo “to show compassion and solidarity with our local Muslim community.”

Prayers will take place from 1:15 to 2 p.m.

Those who attend can remain in the courtyard or join member inside the mosque.

One man was arrested in connection with the mass shootings at two mosques in New Zealand during prayer Friday and two other people were taken into custody, according to authorities.
