All 9-1-1 calls from Guadalupe for fire, police, and emergency medical services are now answered by dispatchers at the Santa Maria Police Department.
The merge is predicted to reduce response times and increase officer and firefighter safety.
Guadalupe callers also will notice a change that a non-emergency number (805) 343-2112 is available 24 hours per day, replacing the old system where calls placed after business hours went to voice mail until the following morning.
