California unemployment rate unchanged in February

(AP/KSBY) – California’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.2 percent in February.

The state Employment Development Department said Friday that California added 14,600 nonfarm payroll jobs during the month.

A year earlier, the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent. It was 4.1 percent from last September through December before rising to 4.2 percent in January.

San Luis Obispo County’s unemployment rate was 3.2 percent in February, down from 3.5 percent in January. It was 3.2 percent in February 2018, as well.

In Santa Barbara County, the unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in February, down from 5.2 percent in January and below last year’s rate of 4.9 percent.
