Posted

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a couple of goats from a property southeast of Santa Maria.

Sheriff’s officials say a resident in the 5700 block of Palmer Rd. reported the theft on Sunday.

Two mixed-breed goats were reportedly taken from their pen and apparently dragged to a waiting vehicle.

It’s believed the theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 and 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22.

Sheriff’s officials say they have no leads at this time and ask anyone with information to call (805) 681-4171.

A rash of goat thefts has recently been reported in the San Joaquin Valley, with more than 60 goats being taken from private properties since the beginning of the year.
