The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Elic Wood on Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office said deputies ran into Wood while he was prowling in the back of a closed business in Orcutt near the Goodwill store on Orcutt Road.

Despite efforts to avoid deputies, the sheriff’s office said they were able to detain Wood.

During the investigation, deputies said Wood provided false information about his identity and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a stun gun. They say he also couldn’t explain why he had a motorized scooter.

Wood was eventually identified and was transported and booked into the Santa Barbara Main Jail. His bail is set to $15,000.

The sheriff’s office said Wood was also found to have three outstanding warrants for car code and drug charges that totaled about $35,000.

Anyone with information as to the owner of the scooter is welcome to contact the sheriff’s office at 805-934-6150.
