The Atascadero Police Department is recommending two misdemeanor charges against an Atascadero High School student accused of recording videos in a girls’ bathroom.
Police say they were notified of the incident on Monday.
According to investigators, no victims were identified and no students’ private parts or sexual activity were recorded.
Police say they’ve turned their investigation over to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office which will decide whether to file charges in the case.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, police say they can’t release any other information.
The Atascadero Unified School District tells KSBY it is “applying an appropriate and severe consequence that follows State Education Code” and that the student suspect is no longer attending Atascadero High School.
School district officials say counseling and support services are available to students.
