Calling all cheese lovers, San Luis Obispo is having its inaugural Grilled Cheese Festival in June and it promises to melt everyone away.
National Grilled Cheese Day was Friday, but cheese enthusiasts are going to have to wait until June 1 to celebrate the holiday. Festival organizers say it’s going to be a gouda time.
The event will be the perfect place to sample unlimited amounts of grilled cheese varieties, sip on local beer and wine while supporting local organizations.
There will also be a grilled cheese cook-off, where chefs will face off to see who has “The Best Cheese of SLO.”
“At least twelve teams will be competing here,” Founder and Executive Director of Restorative Partners Theresa Harpin said. “There will be some people who are just grouping together in the community; others are going to be from professional restaurants and everything in between.”
KSBY anchor Carina Corral will be a judge, tasting all the delicious sandwiches.
The festival will be at Laguna Lake Park. It will start at 12 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.
Tickets cost between $50 to $70.
