(4/30/19) – Keep your eyes to the sky overnight Wednesday.

Vandenberg Air Force Base plans to launch an unarmed Minuteman III Intercontinental ballistic missile in the early morning hours.

The launch window is open from 1:16 a.m. to 7:16 a.m. Wednesday.

Air Force Global Strike Command says the launch is a test to determine the weapon system’s effectiveness, readiness, and accuracy.

These test launches typically take place about once a quarter and are scheduled years in advance.

The most recent Minuteman III launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base was in February.
