Santa Maria police have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault investigation.
Police say on April 11, a female victim told police she was walking to school when a man driving a white minivan with tinted windows lured her into his vehicle and sexually assaulted her.
Throughout the course of the investigation, police say they identified the suspect as Jose Antonio Leon Rojas, 50, of Santa Maria.
Rojas was reportedly arrested last Friday, April 26 and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor.
Police believe there could be other victims. They’re asking anyone with information about Rojas or other potential victims to contact Det. Silver at (805) 928-3781, ext. 1346. Anonymous tips can be made by calling (805) 928-3781, ext. 2677.
Police say Rojas just recently obtained the white minivan, so he may have been driving another vehicle during previous similar crimes.
