People near Atascadero State Hospital may hear or see an increase in activity at the facility Wednesday.
The hospital is working with the Atascadero Police Department to conduct an active shooter drill in the morning.
“Residents near the hospital may see and hear the sights and sounds of the exercise along the periphery of hospital grounds,” officials said in a press release, adding that signage warning of the drill will be posted.
Access to the hospital will be limited during the exercise, scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., officials said.
The exercise will take place outside the secured patient treatment area at the hospital but “hospital-related business and patient care will not be affected.”
