The 2019 Amgen Tour of California is underway and cyclists will arrive on the Central Coast in just a couple of days.
The annual race started in Sacramento on Sunday.
During Stage 2 on Monday, cyclists raced from Rancho Cordova to South Lake Tahoe.
Stage 3 will take racers from Stockton to Morgan Hill on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, they’ll race from the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey County to the Stage 4 finish line on Harbor St. in Morro Bay. Those who’d like to see the cyclists cross the finish line can also enjoy a “Lifestyle Festival” from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monterey Ave. and Harbor St. The family-friendly festival includes more than 40 exhibitors, children’s activities, food and drink, live race streaming on large video screens, health awareness education, and other activities.
On Thursday, Stage 5 will begin in Pismo Beach, head south along Highway 1 through Oceano and Guadalupe to Orcutt, where riders will then head out to Foxen Canyon and Highway 154. After climbing over the San Marcos Pass, cyclists will then take Highway 192 into Ventura County for a finish in the City of Ventura.
Stage 6 will start in Ontario and end at Mt. Baldy.
Stage 7 starts in Santa Clarita and will conclude the race in Pasadena.
The race will cover a total of 773 miles.
