Friday was Bike to Work Day in San Luis Obispo County.
The national celebration encourages people to try bicycle commuting as an alternative to driving.
Events began at 7 a.m. at 16 stations across the county.
“Happy Hour Stations” will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday evening.
A $1,600 folding, electric bicycle will be gifted to a winner at 5:30 p.m. as part of the event. The prize drawing will be shown on Facebook Live.

This is the fourth consecutive year San Luis Obispo County has held Bike to Work Day.
The Employer Outreach Coordinator with the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments, Peter Williamson, said biking is an efficient alternative to driving.
“If you can bike to work, do it. If you can take the bus, do it, definitely. So it’s options – whatever works best for you,” Williamson said.
