Around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Pismo Beach Police, Cal Fire Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo County Animal Control came together to help three kittens trapped inside the engine compartment of a car.

Sgt. Adrian Soza of the Pismo Beach Police Department says the driver of the Toyota was traveling from Concord when they stopped outside of 761 Dolliver St. due to hearing sounds they couldn’t determine coming from the new car.

First responders discovered three kittens above the right, front tire.

Witnesses say one of the kittens was dead when it was removed from the car. The kittens were taken by Animal Control.

Sgt. Soza recommends tapping your hood a few times before starting your car to ensure there are no live animals inside.
